If you are not from an area of the country that is as densely populated as Yonkers, you may be surprised at how difficult it can be.
Read parking signs carefully, especially when not parking on the St. Vladimir’s Campus. In this area you can be towed or ticketed from all of the following (and many more): NO STANDING means- Do Not park here (not “No Loitering”); NO PARKING FROM 8-5 M-F, and SATURDAY, and possibly some SUNDAYS; DO NOT BACK INTO PARKING SPACE, YOU WILL BE TOWED; Keep 15 feet between your car and a fire hydrant. Also, do not park on the opposite side of the street if other cars are not parked there. Be especially careful when you are driving and parking in New York City.
Bring change with you everywhere! Target, Walmart, the post office, doctors’ offices and banks could charge you to park.
If you have a choice between Yonkers and White Plains, it is often faster and easier to get to White Plains. It takes less time to get there (if you use the Bronx River Parkway going north) even though it might be a little farther technically. The seminary is in the city limits of Yonkers, but right on the edge. Scarsdale, Eastchester, Whiteplains, Tuckahoe, Crestwood, Hartsdale, Bronxville – these are easier to get to than downtown Yonkers and are all basically closer.
